February 2005

Fabric:Gold cotton brocade
Pattern: J.P. Ryan - Caraco Jacket

This is the first historical garnment I ever attempted. It is riddled with novice mistakes, but fortunately the fabric is distracting enough to hide them.

The piece involves boning made from cable ties from Home Depot at the front seams, and no lining. If I were to go back and make it again, I would probably have lined it with pale yellow linen. It's strapped on over stays made for me by a friend, and Pocket Hoops for that Georgian silouhette.
